Waiting on Wednesday (#27)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Morning swooners!

This week pre-publication "can't wait to read" selection is:

Expected Release Date: October 22, 2013
Synopsis:
One choice will define you.

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

I am so excited for this one, October 22 can't come fast enough! So, what are you "Waiting on"?

1 Year Blogiversary!!

So, I've been blogging for a year today!

Can you believe it? It has certainly surprised me at times, how much time has passed and how much Books and Swoons has grown.

Ehh. Never mind. Growing up is overrated.

I've struggled at times to keep the blog active and to keep up with the demand and pressure I'd put on myself. But it only lately that I've learned that in order to keep blogging and keep myself sane, I have to do this my way and at my pace. I can't keep comparing myself and Books and Swoons to other blogs. I'm also still learning how to balance blogging and reading with having a life. I recently became a new auntie and so I have brand new niece that I go and snuggle every other day.

But enough about that. It time to celebrate and I want to celebrate by sharing my love for books and swoons and great authors! So you know what that means? It's GIVEAWAY TIME!!

Oh yea, I just did this in real life. Well...I tried anyways.

Here's what I'm giving away: Winner's choice of a signed copy of either Shatter Me or Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi, a signed copy of either Unearthly, Hallowed or Boundless by Cynthia Hand, a signed copy of Under the Never Sky or Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi, and signed copy of Eve, Once, or Rise by Anna Carey and a paperback copy of Divergent by Veronica Roth.

That's right,* 4 signed books and 1 paperback. *

I'm going to a book signing for Spring Into The Future on April 28th and I decided to do something nice for all my Swooners and I wanted to share my love of some of my favorite series. So, I get to meet some lovely authors and get you some signed books. Sounds like a good idea to me!

Unfortunately, at the moment, I can only ship inside the US at the moment.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for stopping by and helping me celebrate my 1 year blogiversary!

Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Insurgent (Divergent, #2)
(source)
Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth
Released date: May 1, 2012
Publisher: HarperCollins

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Summary: "One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even is she does not know what she may lose by doing so."

**I'm doing something different and giving more of a rambling review where I will share the emotions I had while reading Insurgent. There just wasn't a way for me to truly review this book without giving away too much and being satisfied with it as well.**

This was one of the most anticipated book/sequel of the year for me. I counted down the days, stalked my mailman, and my mother so she could let me know if I had received my pre-ordered package (It didn't come until the 5th and I died a little each day until I had my hands on it). I completely devoured this book in one day. I was left expecting more and speechless at how it had ended. Ms. Roth did a wonderful in creating a sequel that lived up to its hype and I can't wait until the third book comes out next year.

Upcoming Releases part 2

As I was preparing and researching for this post, I realized that there is only five books that are releasing in 2012. The list I originally had, included those for 2013 and 2014  and since I just wanted to discuss the one for 2012, here is the short version of that list.
Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Now ever since Divergent came out last year, its popularity has grown rapidly so I don't feel the need to try to explain why I love Divergent and why I think you should go out and run (run, not walk) to your nearest bookstore and purchase it, as well as pre-order Insurgent. So I'll just say one word and be done with it: F O U R.  There. I think Four may be one of my favorite male characters ever. The swoons, ZOMG, loved. It wasn't all about Four and the swoons but that one of the reasons I loved Divergent. It is not the main thing in the book. And I know I'm not alone in this. I even got my best friend into the series and now she is currently anxiously waiting for Insurgent's release with me. (I needed more company, you see. Sorry, friend.)  I need to know what will happen next. What will happen to Tris and Four and everyone else and the factions?
Next on the list is Being Friends with Boys by Terra Elan McVoy. Now, I have not read any of McVoy's other novels, so I can't really say anything about it. But having read the book's synopsis, it's definitely something right up my alley. Also, there seems to be a lot of good reviews for the novel and I'm looking forward to reading this book.
*Side note: Both Insurgent and Being Friends with Boys comes out the first of May.*

Book Trailer for "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth

USA Today Books posted an exclusive trailer for "Insurgent" and an interview with the author, Veronica Roth. "Insurgent" is the second book of the "Divergent" series and Oh.My.God. I am so excited for this release.
Divergent was the first book that I read that was of the dystopian genre. Even before reading The Hunger Games. I ended up devouring the book in a weekend and have been slowing counting down for book #2 release. I finally pre-ordered my copy and now just waiting for May. May 1st can't come soon enough! Thirty-two more days!! Eeep!
