Mini Review: Believe by Katie Delahanty

Believe (Brightside #3)
Author: Katie Delahanty
Release Date: October 24, 2016
Publisher: Entangled Embrace
Format: eBook

Review by: Nahomi
My name is Amanda Conrad and I. Am. A doctor.

When my cousin Liv whisked me away to South Africa to be maid of honor in her super-secret celebrity wedding, I was about to begin a five-year residency at NYU and was on my way to becoming a plastic surgeon. My plans definitely did not include a rock-star best man sweeping me off my feet.

But what happened in South Africa needed to stay there—he’d return to his touring and I’d start my residency, with our fond memories of a whirlwind, fairy-tale week. But now nothing feels right—I’m questioning my once solid plans, and I can’t stop thinking about him. Our lives are so different… Am I ready to risk everything I’ve worked for since I was thirteen—and put my heart on the line? To dream bigger than I ever thought possible? To believe I can have it all? That’s the thing about growing up...sometimes you have to be brave enough to redefine happily ever after.

*I received an eARC of this title from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. However, it did not influence this review in any way.*

Believe is a heart warming romance that will leave you wanting more! Amanda aka Boots and Mark have an intense chemistry together. I just couldn’t get enough of those two when they were together. It was wonderful catching up with Liv, Berkley and some of the other characters from In Bloom!

The African adventure was so much fun to read! Just a little lep just a little lep… When you read the story you’ll see what I mean. The story alternated between spurts of high action and times of less activity. I felt so frustrated with Boots and Mark at times because they can both be so stubborn!

Mark is a sweetheart but is a little closed off. Boots is extremely closed off but I enjoyed seeing her develop and find her own way! Believe has everything that I love in a romance novel!!

Teaser + Giveaway: Blushing by Katie Delahanty

My name is Olivia Bloom and I. Am. Engaged.

When Berkeley proposed I thought we’d live happily ever after—we’d plan our wedding and he’d tour with the Brightside while I continued designing lingerie. But instead he dropped a bombshell that turned my life upside down: he’s set to star in a movie with, who else, his gorgeous ex, Christina Carlton. And what’s more? I’ve been erased from the public eye. All anyone can talk about is #Berkstina.

Berkeley wants me to work on set as a costume designer—a dream come true—but there’s a catch; we have to keep our relationship secret. I’m okay with not being photographed, but the sneaking around, the lies, the love scenes; it’s not how I imagined our engagement. I know Berkeley is passionate and driven, but he has so much going on—I don’t know if we can take it. I’m starting to wonder how well I know him.

I love him, but am I ready to drop everything and decide the rest of my life? To become Olivia Dalton?

I was so excited to get to read Blushing! I absolutely loved catching up with all of my favorite characters! I was starting to have Berkley and Liv withdrawls like seriously.

The Story:
I love the concept of this novel. The plot is a little predictable but there are definitely some plot twists that left me in shock. I like the mystery component of the story. I didn't  really know who is causing all the trouble on set, which made me suspicious of everyone. There were times I really felt bad for Liv because man it just seemed like everyone was against her, like she didn't have anyone on her side. I am glad she was able to over come those obstacles. What really has me hooked on this story is the wonderful characters. I love to read about their lives and Ms. Delahanty does a great job of making the reader feel like a part of their story.

The Characters:
I am really happy with Liv's character growth, although  there were times I just wanted to slap her because I swear she's used the same tactic before and it didn't go so well the first time either.  I forgave her because she grew a pair of balls by the end of the story and when after what she wanted. I was really annoyed with Berkley for a lot of the story and we don't get to see him as much as I would have liked but he was acting like a douche canoe for most of the story but I forgave him by the end too. Really, both Berkley and Liv were at fault for their communication issues.

I enjoyed getting lost between the pages of Blushing. It is a great story that will leave you feeling good.

Book Promo + Playlist: Blushing by Katie Delahanty

Morning Swooners,

I am so excited to have Katie Delahanty here with us today! Katie is the author of In Bloom and Blushing, The Brightside series. I  LOVED In Bloom (you can see my review here) and I'm so happy to have her here today. Music is an integral part of The Brightside series, and today we get to check out Katie's playlist for Blushing!

Katie:
I can’t write without music—getting lost in a song and letting my imagination run wild is such an important part of the process for me. Here is a compilation of songs (in no particular order) that I was listening to while writing Blushing.

“Love Like This” by Kodaline
Even if it makes me a little sad (a love like Liv&Berk’s better last forever!)…it always puts me in the writing mood.

“Is This How You Feel?” By The Preatures
 Just pure happy…

“From Now On” by Delta Spirit

"Got to My Head” by Waters
Justin might sing this to Liv…

"Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy

“Work it Out” by Knox Hamilton
They can work it out…right?

“Love Runs Out” by One Republic
Ryan Tedder writes the best songs…he’s friends with Berkeley, for sure.

“California (Cast Iron Soul)” by Jamestown Revival
My inspiration for Coconut Teaszer’s sound!

Thanks for sharing your playlist with us, Katie. These are such great songs! Check out both In Bloom and Blushing live now. It's such a great series!

My name is Olivia Bloom and I. Am. Free.

I left for LA with everything I owned piled into my old Volkswagen and dreams of becoming a costume designer. Little did I know I’d wind up designing for a lingerie company—yeah, not sure how I landed this gig—and taken under the wing of two young Hollywood insiders. The fashion shows and parties were great, but life really got exciting when the seriously hottest lead singer of my favorite band started to fall for me.

How does someone like me, an ordinary girl from Pittsburgh, wind up in the arms of the world’s sexiest rock star—surrounded by celebrities, fashion, and music—and not be eaten alive? Berkeley is everything I've ever dreamed of in a boyfriend, but the paparazzi, the tabloids, the rumors, it's all getting a bit too crazy. My life has become every girl’s dream come true, if only I don’t blink and lose it all…

My life has become every girl’s dream come true, if only I don’t blink and lose it all…

I'm so excited to have Olivia and Berkeley here today for their first interview as a couple. Thank you both for being here.

Olivia:
How are you handling all of the media coverage since you started dating Berkeley?
Can I crawl under a rock and hide? I always hated being the center of attention, but this is like being the center of the world! I don’t know how real celebrities handle it. I’m definitely not star material…I’ll leave that to Berkeley.

What is your favorite thing about living here in California?
Honestly? The weather. I love being able to bike to the beach in the middle of January. And also the food. There are so many unique restaurants to try, it’s easy to pretend you’re dining in a faraway, exotic city instead of your own backyard.

Up to this point what do you consider your greatest achievement?
Having lingerie that I helped design sold at Nordstrom. I know I didn’t do it alone, but six months ago I never could have dreamed I’d be saying that. Life is funny sometimes…so many unexpected twists! I really feel like I’m on the right path. Maybe someday I’ll have my name on a label…

What is the most difficult part of dating someone as famous as Berkeley?
We rarely get to be alone. There are always people around, and they all need his attention. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the way… But when we do get a moment together, I remember it’s totally worth it.

What is your favorite thing about being a lingerie designer? I love the fantasy of it all—imagining how the girl who is wearing it wants to feel, what story she’s trying to tell.

Berkeley:
What is next for Berkeley & the Brightside, can we expect more touring or a new album soon? We’re actually going to take a little break. We’ve been touring the world relentlessly for the last two years and I think there might be mutiny if I ask the guys to get on one more plane. Hopefully we’ll be back in the studio in a couple months to start the new album, and we’re going to be working on a movie soundtrack soon, too.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Having balance—being comfortable at home, surrounded by family and friends and feeling successful at work—but staying hungry, not getting complacent. I’m happiest when a project I’ve been working on starts to come together.

What is your greatest fear?
Missing an opportunity.

What inspires you when you are writing a song?
Everything—it could be an article I read, or a conversation I overheard at the grocery store, or the way the light is hitting my balcony in the morning. I don’t know where inspiration comes from, but I always consider it a gift. Sometimes I’m writing and the music or words are coming faster than I can comprehend them, it’s like they’re flowing through me, and I consider myself lucky that they chose me to tell their story.

Are you working on new material?
Always. Not a day goes by that I don’t jot down lyrics in my composition book.

Both:

Do you find it difficult to manage your career and relationship?
Both: YES!
Liv: It’s so new… we’re still figuring it out.
Berkeley: I travel so much, it’s never easy, but I’m hoping Liv will agree to tag along on my next adventure…

What is the most difficult aspect of being in a relationship with each other?
Berkeley: The outside forces that keep pulling us in different directions. The band, my publicist and her crazy schemes…
Liv: And don’t forget my mom and her crazy prophecies!

Are there any quirks or habits you have had to get used to since you started dating?
Berkeley: Liv probably has to get used to me staring at her all the time because I still can’t believe she’s real, and I keep checking to make sure she hasn’t disappeared…and I’ve had to get used to her singing. She’s an eternal botcher of lyrics.
Liv: I am not!
Berkeley: What do you think the words to “Headshot” are again?
Liv: ‘’You wanna take it up, go ahead and make it up/ You better hold me when you’re done”
Berkeley: Or “You wanna break it up, go ahead and break it up/ You better hope you’re really done”…
Liv: Noooo.
Berkeley: I think I should know… I wrote them.
Liv: No comment. And Berkeley doesn’t have quirks, he just has ex-girlfriends.

What are your plans for the future as a couple?
Berkeley: We have to plead the fifth on that for now...Shar’s orders…but we hope to make an announcement soon…

Thanks again for taking the time out of your busy schedules to talk to us we look forward to seeing more of the two of you around.

About the Author:
Katie is a fashion designer turned novelist. She graduated with a BA in Communication Studies from UCLA and a Professional Designation in Fashion Design from FIDM. It never occurred to her that she was a writer until an economic crisis induced career shift from lingerie designer to ecommerce webmistress led her to start the company blog. Not being an expert in lingerie, she decided to write the blog as a fictional serial starring a girl named Olivia Bloom who worked for the lingerie line. And that’s when Katie fell in love with storytelling. She hasn’t looked back since. Katie lives in Los Angeles with her husband

*I received an eARC of this book from the publisher but it did not influence this review in any way*

Lately I've been on what I call a Hollywood binge, being that the last few books I have read have been about actors or singers falling in love with someone who is not in the business or has a behind the scenes role. Most of the stories follow the same pattern and I was starting to feel like I needed a break from this specific type of book. But then I picked up In Bloom and I was hooked. The story had a way of captivating my attention to the point that I couldn't put it down. I was addicted and I needed to know what happened next.

This book was filled with romance and sweet moments. I was swooning, sighing, and wishing that I had a Berkeley Dalton too. Olivia is endearing, and genuine. I love that she's clumsy. I also really like that when she is nervous she says the funniest things. Olivia's and Berkeley's love story is beautiful, and full of raw emotions.

The characters were realistic and relatable. The pacing was perfect, the story had me up until the wee hours of the morning because I simply could not put the book down. Katie Delahanty did a wonderful job creating this wonderful story full of great characters! This is definitely a must read!
