*I received an eARC of this book from the publisher but it did not influence this review in any way.*

After having read Waiting on the Sidelines I was left wondering what happened to Nolan and Reed's relationship so, I requested Going Long and was not disappointed that I did. Ginger Scott did a much better job in cutting out some of the mundane details that bogged down the plot in Waiting on the Sidelines making Going Long's pacing much faster and easier to get through even though it covers more or less the same period of time.

Nolan and Reed's relationship is tumultuous to say the least and college brings its own set of drama. This story definitely took me by surprise in that I wasn't expecting some of the plot twist it had. I initially thought Reed was going to screw things up like always, but boy was I wrong. I was pleasantly surprised that it's Nolan who has issues in this story. Not that her situation is funny or anything that I could take pleasure in, but it was refreshing to see a switch in roles where it isn't the woman suffering because a man is having issues.

There is a lack of communication on both Nolan and Reed's part that causes a hole lot of trouble. I understand the story would be different if it weren't for the lack of communication but it was still a little annoying. Nolan's insecurity and procrastination detonated a chain of events that could have been avoided if she would have just been honest with Reed in the beginning.

Beside their lack of communication which is more of a personal pet peeve of mine this is a really good story. There were times I was shaking my head and wanted to close my eyes because of Nolan's behavior. There is a lot of pain being felt in this story by both of the main characters that was heart wrenching. I loved the ending and epilogue! Reed is so sweet in this story, there were several times I was sighing because of something he did or said. Again Nolan is a strong character and I adore that she doesn't let Reed's football career dictate what she wants to do with her education and her career.

This is definitely a story to take a chance on! I really enjoyed reading Going Long and think it's the perfect ending for this duology.
