When Jade is given a scholarship to an elite private college in Connecticut, she sees it as a chance to finally escape her painful past and get a fresh start. She’s determined to succeed and that means keeping her focus on school and not guys. But her plan falls apart her first day on campus when Garret, a rich prep school boy with swimmer abs and a perfect smile, offers to help her move in. Jade tries to push him away, but she can’t deny her attraction to him and Garret won’t let her. Things quickly heat up between them, but then come to a sudden halt when reality hits and Jade realizes that a relationship with Garret may never be possible. He comes from a world of wealth where there are rules, including rules about who he can date. And not following those rules has consequences. As the two of them try to overcome the obstacles working to keep them apart, Jade is confronted with another challenge. On her 19th birthday, she receives a letter that her now deceased mother wrote years ago. In it are revelations that explain her traumatic childhood but also make her question the past she’s been running from.

I have had Choosing You on my TBR pile for a while now, and actually already owned the book when I was given the opportunity to do this blog tour. I was extremely excited about this tour because it actually allowed me to move this book up on my reading list! Initially I was nervous because I had been waiting for a while to read this book and didn’t want to be disappointed, and luckily I wasn’t. I really loved the story and the characters.
This book kept me up all night; I just couldn’t put it down. I needed to keep turning pages to see what would happen next. The pacing of this book was perfect and there was enough mystery to keep me intrigued and turning pages. Jade and Garrets relationship is sweet (mainly because of Garret and his thoughtfulness). Jade’s had a difficult past and has a hard time believing that people want to be nice to her. She has issues trusting people and believing that people don’t always have an ulterior motive when they are being nice to her. She is one tough girl and comes off as kind of prickly. Her internal monologue is something I had an issue with throughout the book. I get where she is coming from but it doesn’t stop me from rolling my eyes when I read it.
Garret is my newest book boyfriend! I love his character, and now I have a thing for guys with the name Garret; being that he is the second Garret on my book boyfriend list. Garret is thoughtful and sweet and all around a good guy. He’s not a goody two shoes or anything like that. Garret knows how to party and has had his share of sleeping around, but around Jade he wants to be better and cleans up his act. The things he says and does had me in a constant state of swooning. Did I mention he’s ridiculously good looking? Garret is on the swim team so his body is ripped; top this off with his blue eyes and it’s the perfect combination to have me drooling.
This story had a little of everything, there was angst, suspense, drama, and romance. I felt like it was an overall great read. I can’t believe how it ended! Now I have to get my hands on Knowing You to see what happens next.
